It’s very easy to exclude specific file extensions from backing up to OneDrive. Here’s how to do it.

  1. Click the OneDrive icon in the system tray area, click the Gear icon, and choose Settings.

  2. Choose Sync and backup from the left sidebar and click Advanced settings in the right pane.

  3. Click Exclude next to Excluded file extensions.

  4. Type the extension in the field and click Exclude.

And that’s about it. The excluded file extension won’t be backed up to OneDrive.

In the future, if you want to back up the excluded file extension, click the cross (X) icon next to it and then click OK from the prompt that appears.

How do I make certain folders not upload to OneDrive?

To exclude certain folders from syncing to OneDrive, click the OneDrive icon in the system tray area, click the Gear icon, and choose Settings. Then, choose Account from the left sidebar and click the Choose folders button in the right pane. Uncheck the folder you don’t want to upload to OneDrive and click OK.

How do I exclude extensions from OneDrive?

You can exclude extensions from OneDrive by navigating to OneDrive > Settings > Sync and backup > Advanced settings. Then, click Exclude, type the extension you want to exclude from OneDrive, and click Exclude.
