Does your computer’s color saturation change while playing games? Fret not, you are not alone.

Many users have reported that their monitor’s color profile is automatically boosted when playing certain games. If you are one of them, try the solutions below to troubleshoot the problem.

1. Update Your Graphics Driver

The best way to fix any display issue, including the one at hand, is to update your graphics driver. As it turns out, your display might automatically change the color saturation due to corruption in the graphics driver.

To fix that, you must download the latest graphics driver update for your computer. Here’s how to do it.

  1. Press the Win + I key to open Settings.
  2. Choose Windows Update from the left sidebar and click Check for updates in the right pane.

Your computer will now automatically download the Windows update along with any available graphics driver update. Alternatively, you can update your graphics driver by visiting its manufacturer’s website (NVIDIAAMD, or Intel).

2. Disable Auto HDR

Auto HDR is an incredible Windows feature that automatically converts SDR to HDR in eligible games. It does so to offer you a brighter and more detailed picture of the game.

It is possible that the color saturation change you notice is due to the Auto HDR feature. If you do not like the color change in your game, you can disable Auto HDR by following these steps:

  1. Open Settings and choose Display from the left sidebar.
  2. Click Use HDR.
  3. Disable the Auto HDR toggle.

3. Use CPKeeper

Another quick solution to try if your color saturation changes while playing games is to use CPKeeper. It’s a third-party tool that locks the ICC profile to keep monitors calibrated even while playing video games. To set up and use this tool, follow the below steps:

  1. Download CPKeeper on your computer.
  2. Open the NVIDIA Control Panel, and set up a color settings of your choice.

  3. Launch CPKeeper and click the asterisk (*) sign.

  4. Choose a location where you want to save your current color settings and click Save.

4. Disable Gaming Mode in MSI Dragon Center

Are you using MSI Dragon Center on your computer? If yes, it might be possible that its gaming mode is causing the issue. You can disable it by following the instructions below:

  1. Open MSI Dragon Center, click Features and choose Gaming Mode from the menu that crops up.

After that, restart your game and you’ll see that you’re no longer facing the issue.
