As you won’t be able to login into your device once the error occurs, you’ll need to boot into the recovery mode to fix the error. Do make sure you’ve created a system image earlier before you proceed. Here’s how:

  1. Restart your PC from the login screen while holding the Shift key.
  2. Here, click on Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System Image Recovery.

  4. The Re-image your computer tab will now open, click Select a system image and click Next.
  5. Click on Advanced, select Install a Driver and click on OK. This will allow access to a Windows Explorer-type folder structure.
  6. Click on This PC at the left. You’ll find the drive with utilman.exe in the [drive letter]\Windows\System32 folder; rename it to Utilman1.
  7. Now, close all the tabs, click Continue from the blue screen, and your device will restart to the Login screen.
  8. Here, click on Accessibility, and the Command Prompt will open.
  9. Type start msconfig and hit Enter.
  10. The msconfig will now open, select Normal Boot, click on Ok, and restart your device.
  11. At the next login screen, you should be able to enter your PIN, and everything should return to normal.
